The Würtige Empire, that gathering of nations united by history, has been involved in the intermicronational scene since its inception in December 2012. Each Autonomous Member State has looked out for and protected the interests of the others, and this rings even more true in the Grand Unified Micronational (GUM), the premier Micronational organisation in the Micronation.org community, where the Region of Clyro and its predecessors have fought hard to protect the rights of the other Member States of the Würtige Empire, and have been in turn supported by those states; it was the Region of Clyro’s delegation that persuaded the GUM to give each Autonomous Member State of the Würtige Empire its own vote in the Quorum of Delegates, and the other States rallied to protect those rights from being scrapped during the tenure of Ciprian I of Juclandia as Chair of the Quorum during the 2013-2014 Winter term. Despite all of this, it has not been until now that the Würtige Empire has made a concerted attempt to influence GUM affairs.
When the Republic of Suntrain, another GUM nation, nominated candidates for the positions of the Secretaries of Security & Community Affairs, Culture & Education, and Science & Research, the Würtige empire acknowledged collectively that action had to be taken. Two of the Suntrainien candidates were unknowns in the community, and their levels of activity could not be ascertained. as such, the Würtige Empire took to the field in force to combat the threat of inactivity signalling the death knell of the GUM as an institution of Micronationalism.
HL Richard I of Mercia ran for the position of Secretary of Science & Research, and Tsar Thomas I of Nolland ran for the Culture & Educational Secretarial position. Duke of the Den of Mancunia (a state of the Nollandish Confederation), James Cheffins, ran unopposed for the position of Secretary of Media & Public Relations, and Kaiser Arthur I, Emperor of the entire Würige Empire, was the sole nominee for the position of Chair of the Presidium of the Supreme Tribune, a position known to most as ‘the Supreme Judge’. Emperor Jonathan Augustus of Austenasia ran as the Security & Community Affairs Secretary, and Taeglan I Nihilus of the Reylan Imperial Triumvirate ran for the position of Chair of the Quorum of Delegates without competition.
The result was an overwhelming rout; Kaiser Arthur made it to his position unopposed, and all Suntrainien candidates were swept from the field, with HL Richard I and Tsar Thomas I taking up their positions in the Secretariat with 9 votes each to 1 vote each for the Suntrainien candidates. Emperor Jonathan Augustus took his seat with an 8-1 victory, and Duke Cheffins and Taeglan I Nihilus won their seats without challenge.
The Secretariat is now entirely comprised of experienced Micronationalists and, backed up by an extremely reliable and experienced Judiciary and Chairmanship, the GUM is expected to ride through the 2014-2015 Winter Term, going from strength to strength as it does so.
