To be clear, hostilities between the signatories of the Treaty of York and the Holy Empire of New Israel ceased at midnight on the 9th August 2014. This post has been belated due to various activities and inconveniences in the life of the Burnham Micropress’ staff.
The Freedomian Aggression, otherwise known as the Second Spice War in the Holy Empire of New Israel, and as the West Germanian Bishops’ War in the Saxon Empire, has come to a close! The Signatory nations of the Treaty of York (hereafter known as the Yorkists) have emerged victorious against the Holy Empire of New Israel, and the Kingdom of West Germania has been legally declared as independent from New Israel, rejoining its allies in a new Saxon Empire.
The war came to a close after private negotiations between Kaiser Arthur I of the Würtige Empire and Emperor Markus Abernathy of New Israel, mediated by Lord Richard I of Clyro, gave way to the Holy Empire yielding to the Yorkist demands. The Kingdom of West Germania was made an independent nation, free from New Israeli hegemony. Furthermore, the New Israeli territory of Rockland was ceded back to the Tsardom of Nolland (an Autonomous Member State of the Würtige Empire), to recompense Nolland’s loss of that territory to New Israel in March 2013 amidst uproar and cries of scandal. The return of Rockland to the Tsardom of Nolland gave the peace settlement its’ name; the Rockland Armistice.
The Rockland Armistice, which was signed by delegates on behalf of the Holy Empire of New Israel, the Würtige Empire, the Kingdom of West Germania, the Kaiserreich Kleinebayern and the Schalamzaar Empire, officially ended hostilities, and furthermore promised the cessation of all propaganda directed between the Yorkist nations and New Israel, the ending of all personal attacks and blackmail between the two factions, and the mutual recognition of all involved states, alongside a pledge to support and assist one another in the benefits of peace. Aptly, the verse from the Holy Bible chosen to be placed atop the Rocklund Armistice was Matthew 5:9 (Verse nine of Chapter five, from the Gospel according to St Matthew); “Blessed are the Peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God” (KJV).
The Yorkists have since disbanded, as the purpose of the Treaty has been fulfilled. As a mark of peace and respect, His Lordship Richard I has renounced his title of Freedomian Baron, a title offered as a gift by Emperor Markus in a previous iteration of the Holy Empire of New Israel. HL Richard I has renounced this title “in order to let the past fall behind, to focus on the future.”
