Intermicronational: Würtige Empire on a war footing; New Israeli aggression checked by international response?

During the days of the Confederate States of Prosperity, the Empire-Republic of Freedomia and the St Peters Republic (the forerunner to the modern-day Region of Clyro) were firm allies, united politically and socially. The President-of-State (now the Lord Spiritual of Mercia and the Lord of Clyro) and Emperor Mark II of Freedomia were close friends and worked together within the Confederal Parliament as members of first the Order of Gustavus party, and then as members of the Liberal Nationalists.

However, a great divide was caused by the dissolution of the Confederate States of Prosperity, as the Confederacy fragmented due to poor governance and archiving of legislature, the St Peters Republic becoming the Independent Daenningas Regional Dominion of Burnham & its Lands (IDRDB&L), and the President-of-State becoming the First Consul. Many states of the Confederacy, led by Burnham and Knoll Island (now the Tsardom of Nolland) held referendums to join the Würtige Empire, a Germanic political entity based in Brazil. While Burnham and Nolland joined the Empire, other Confederate states, such as Amager and New Winterdown, did not (although New Winterdown joined the Würtige Empire in October 2013, 8 months after their referendum closed). Freedomia, however, instead of holding its own democratic referendum, was held out of the Würtige Empire by Mark II, who then made egregious use of his Knollish citizenship to cause havoc within chatrooms belonging to the Knoll Island government, inciting racial hatred, being generally inappropriate, and threatening the secession of a Knollish colony, which he was governor of.

This led to the infamous ‘Mark II’ trial, where the accused did not actually show up, hence his trialling in absentia, a controversial move. Mark II was found guilty of three of the five charges held against him by the Würtige government, and was subsequently banished from the Empire and all of the Autonomous Member States, with no chance of ever re-applying for citizenship. Freedomia ended its democratic era as Mark II re-styled himself as Markus Abernathy, and replaced free thought and secularism with heavy-handed Christian theocracy, heavily based on the almost-apostate Prosperity Gospel, a text completely unrelated to the similarly named Confederacy from Clyro’s past. The nation from then on became known as New Israel, which began a campaign of harassment and offensiveness directed against the Würtige Empire. This campaign was known in New Israel as ‘the Second Spice War’. The Würtige Empire never recognised the New Israeli war declaration, nor was the outcome of the first Spice War ever discovered, or even the correlation between the Würtige Empire, New Israel, and any kind of spice. This ‘war’ began in December 2012.

Lay of New Israel.

The date is now the 21st July 2014, and ‘the Second Spice War’, known now as ‘the Freedomian Aggression’ in the Würtige Empire, has continued in one form or another for 20 months. Although largely quiet, serious flashpoints in 2013 included the loss of the Nollandish territory of Rockland in March because of its locality to New Israel and the subsequent harassment that it endured; the accusations of the Lord of Clyro (then Basileus after the glorious May 31st Theodorist Revolution) of practicing Satanism and witchcraft in June, as well as comments declaring the Würtige Empire’s impending demise in October. 2014 had seen seven months of complete peace between the Würtige Empire and New Israel, and even the apparent warming of relations between them, as the King of the New Israeli sub-kingdom of West Germania, Penda II, and His Lordship Richard I became cordial thanks to their sharing of the Christian belief (His Lordship being a recent convert). However, it appeared that peace with West Germania was not peace with New Israel, as recent debate in the Knesset (or legislature) of New Israel over the deplorable actions of Israel proper in Gaza* led to a Germanic declaration of intent to secede from New Israel**. Emperor Markus Abernathy was keen to show unconditional support for Israel’s actions of murdering Palestinian civilians and freedom fighters, whereas King Penda chose instead to show sympathy to the plight of the people of the West Bank. Abernathy refused the Germanic people their wish for independence, and declared war on them for unconstitutional treachery instead.

Citing the Scottish Covenanters’ rebellion against the English tyranny in the Bishops Wars as an example of the justness of cause, West Germania, and its observer state, the Kaiserreich of Kleinebayern, declared intent to secede from New Israel on the 20th July and permitted foreign assistance in achieving this aim. The Würtige Imperial Council immediately helped draft what has been titled ‘the Treaty of York’, and following the passing of the motion accepting the Treaty in the Würtige Imperial Council forum, both the Würtige Emperor’s signature and the signature of the Lord of Clyro appeared on the Treaty. The Würtige Empire is now at war with the hegemony of New Israel, to protect West Germania and the Germanic bid for independence.

New Israel Casus Belli

New Israel is seen as a threat to intermicronational peace, particularly in the ‘Confederate Diaspora’ of the community; Würdigeland, Nolland, Mercia, New Winterdown, Hobartstown & Victoria (the direct descendent of Amager) and the Ashukov Federation (the inheritors of the Amatine legacy) have all declared war or the intent of war upon New Israel (Hobartstown & Victoria backed out of this however instead to issue condemnation and to promote a peaceful conclusion to the debacle). Even nations outside of the shared community of the ‘Confederate Diaspora’ are involved to some degree; the Organisation of United Emerging States (which includes little-known nations such as Schalamzaar, Mancunia and Archland) has condemned the New Israeli tyranny, and expresses full support for the Germanic independence cause.

While the Würtige Empire upholds its promise to show solidarity with West Germania through an official war declaration, the Empire is also using the war as a cultural tool; the in-progress national epic, which is a satire loosely based on the Freedomian Aggression, is being worked on once more; decrepit propaganda ministries in the Autonomous Member States are seeing activity; plans for the further decentralisation of the Würtige Empire have been taken back in order to better coordinate the war effort. Also, the conflict is seen as largely a humourous affair by most of those that signed the Treaty of York, so you can expect at least one satirical ‘state of the war effort’ article from the Burnham Micropress in the not too distant future.

In all seriousness, however, a plan to nullify New Israel’s presence has been prepared, and while the Treaty of York holds, then the ‘Yorkists’ will carry on the campaign to ensure that the voice of the New Israeli dictatorship is as muffled as possible.

      1. It’s not like you’re able to do anything anyways. Besides, we know you got your information from Jacque Miles. With his history, I wouldn’t trust anything from him.
