This evening on the 16th March, the third Mercian Parliament House Meeting was held. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, M. Leon Simpson, was dismissed from his position on grounds of inactivity, and also had his noble title of Baron stripped from him for the same reason. M. Simpson has 7 days to fill in the Mercian Citizenship Form, or he will be banished from Mercia, with chance to reapply through the normal routes.
The Meeting also appointed Marquis Thomas Cassidy to the now vacant position of Minister of Foreign Affairs, meaning that the Marquis now controls the Interior and Foreign Affairs of Mercia. Through the Meeting, the three Chief Constables and the one Deputy Constable of the Clyran Constabulary Service for the Capital Parish, the Home Shires and the Abroad Presence were nominated and approved.
There was also discussion in the Meeting, followed by Decrees in Clyro. There was a general consensus that the development of Chappism (a blend of typical English social stereotypes and Edwardian idealism) would not be opposed if it took root in Clyro, and to this end the waistcoat Club Service (WCS) was founded by Decree of the Lord of Clyro as an informal gathering of Clyran Chaps. There was also agreement to work with the Würtige Imperial Council on pan-Imperial drug legalisation and legislation.
Finally, the titles of Ministers of the Mercian Parliament House were simplified for ease of use, and the Geographic Registry Service of Clyro was officialised as the Geographic Registry Gorsedh by Decree of the Lord of Clyro.
Outside of politics, Clyran citizen Christopher Seaward has represented the Region in this year’s Microvision Song Contest, where nations compete for victory with their musically talented citizens. Comrade Seaward demonstrated the growing old fashioned bent of Clyran culture by singing Frank Sinatra’s ‘Lady is a Tramp’ while wearing a white tuxedo on an old stage.
Seaward is not the only artistically talented citizen of Clyro, which has prompted some to consider a Clyran talent show popping up on Regal Telecommunications sometime later this year. Seaward’s musical talent has also reached foreign ears, as he has recently signed up for the Nollandish Jazz Orchestra, which operates out of Clyro’s old ally, the Tsardom of Nolland.
Lord Richard I of Clyro (using his birth name of Cunningham) was appointed to the position of Security Secretary of the Grand Unified Micronational (GUM) on the 13th March 2014 alongside the inauguration of new organisation Chair Bradley of Dullahan. The GUM Quorum of Delegates on 16th March included the new Secretaries showcasing their plans for the future. While Secretary Cunningham laid out his plans to resolve conflict in the GUM’s expanding worldview, an idea from the Bysalian delegate has prompted the organisation to discuss the possibility of appointing military forces from the member states of the GUM to a body of GUM Peacekeepers. Although the idea has its supporters and opponents, serious consideration of a UN-style peacekeeping mission will not occur until the first meeting of the GUM Staff, which was postponed until the 29th March.
