The Theodorist Regional Dominion of Burnham has, finally, made the changes as alluded to by the Basileus on Christmas Eve 2013. Today, at exactly 12:00PM GMT, the Basileus issued a decree that went as follows:
“DECREE OF THE BASILEUS OF THE THEODORIST REGIONAL DOMINION OF BURNHAM & ITS LAND:
1) From now on, the Theodorist Regional Dominion of Burnham & its Land shall be known as the Region of Clyro. All institutions mentioning the name of the country will have their names changed to accommodate this change.2) The People’s Commons is to be dissolved. All Political Parties are too dissolved and all Independent Candidates will have their candidatures withdrawn. The room used for the People’s Commons will be reappropriated for the use of the Mercian Parliament.
3) Basileus Justinian I will no longer hold that title or regnal name. Instead, he shall be known as His Lordship Richard I, by the Grace of God, Lord of Mercia.
4) The Region of Clyro’s Counties, Cassidy County, Mossroof County and Ramble County, shall be replaced with the Shires of Cassidishire, Mossroofshire and Rambleshire.
5) The Settlerships of the Region of Clyro, those being Saint’s Rest, Declan Forest, Low Wold, Rio Cinema, Star Inn, Greater Koille, Lesser Koille, Burnham Beacon, Footscray House and Fort New Necessity shall keep their names, but shall instead be referred to as Parishes instead of Settlerships from now on.
6) His Lordship Richard I, by the Grace of God, Lord of Mercia shall continue to have emergency power over the Region of Clyro until the constitutional document that binds the lands of the Region of Clyro with one of the Krajs of the Noble Republic of Lurk and allies the Crowns of Clyro and Lurk is ratified.
7) His Lordship Richard I, by the Grace of God, Lord of Mercia shall from now on be the Lord Spiritual of the Mercian Protestant Lay Church. The Lord Spiritual may appoint Nobles from Mercia and Clyro to be Bishops of the Mercian Protestant Lay Church.
8) The following citizens of Burnham and the Würtige Empire shall be appointed as part of the Clyro/Mercian Nobility.
Arthur Lobao shall become an Duke, being known as Duke Lobao; Thomas Cassidy shall become a Marquis, being known as Marquis Cassidy; Paco Velazquez shall become a Baron, being known as Baron Velazquez; Joseph Kennedy shall become a Duke, being known as Duke Kennedy; James Frisch shall become a Count, being known as Count Frisch; and Alejandro-Whyatt-Miranda shall become an Earl, being known as Earl Whyatt.9) All State services and Gorsedhs shall remain as they are under their incumbent managements respectively.
10) The Region of Clyro will become part of the Kingdoms and Lands Represented in the Council of the Diarchal Crowns of the Disciples, which will also go by the name of Mercia, at some point in the future. This will occur when a Kraj of the Noble Republic of Lurk is pledged to Mercia, and when Karl Friedrich (otherwise known as Luxor) will be appointed Lord Temporal of Mercia.”
The ‘Clyro Reforms’ as this decree and the actions surrounding them have been dubbed have led to the Theodorist Worker’s Party of Burnham (TWPB), which has now been dissolved, reforming to take Justinian Theodorism globally. The Justinian Workers’ Alliance (JWA) has been formed by former TWPB officials, with plans to “work to further Justinian Theodorism overseas and abroad” and to “cooperate with Orthodox and Democratic Theodorists“.
So far, the Micronation.org Wiki page for Burnham has been remarked with the new name, events and government structure of Clyro, and the Grand Unified Micronational’s page on that wiki has too been updated to accomodate the new name. The flag, for now, has not been changed, although Lord Richard I issued the following statement to the Grand Unified Micronational Lounge at 12:16PM GMT:
“At an unspecified point in time, Clyro will become part of an Alliance of Crowns. At that point, the name will ‘change’ again (Clyro becoming a centralised territory in Mercia), and Mercia will inherit the GUM position and I’ll make all necessary flag changes and whatnot.”
This ‘Alliance of Crowns’ is believed to be the formation of the Kingdoms and Lands Represented in the Council of the Diarchal Crowns of the Disciples, a name that is to be used only in official circumstances, the shorter name ‘Mercia’ taking precedence instead conversationally or in informal matters.
Clyro will be the third name that the nation has held (the first being the St Peters Republic and the second being the Regional Dominion of Burnham), and the third major political reform (from the Council to the Consulate; the Consulate to the Soviet Gorsedh & the People’s Commons; and the Soviet to the Lordship & Parliament).
