The 1st Burnhamite General Election, which was due to start on the 3rd December 2013, has still not occurred. No Independent Candidate (of which Burnham has three) submitted an Election Manifesto, and no action from any of the Theodorist Worker’s Party of Burnham was forthcoming. The residents of Burnham stayed at home instead of going to the polls.
By the 6th December, HSM Justinian I, Basileus of the Dominion, decided that matters needed to be taken into his hands. At 22:09 GMT, His Socialist Majesty delivered the following statement to the Burnham Lounge, People’s Commons and Wuertige Lounge chatrooms, so that all of the Wuertige Empire would be aware of such a serious event. The declaration was also sent to the Lounge of the Grand Unified Micronational (GUM), the intermicronational organisation of which Burnham is a part of:
STARTING ON THE 7th DECEMBER 2013 (07/12/2013), I WILL BE UTILISING THE EMERGENCY POWERS VESTED IN ME BY THE CONSTITUTION OF THE THEODORIST REGIONAL DOMINION OF BURNHAM AND ITS LAND TO BRING THIS NATION BACK TO A STATE OF ACTIVITY. I WILL BE ASSUMING CONTROL OF THE GOVERNMENT AND THE ARMED FORCES OF THE NATION. THERE WILL BE A STATE OF ABSOLUTE RULE ON MY PART, WITH MEMBERS OF THE PEOPLE’S COMMONS ACTING IN AN ADVISORY CAPACITY UNTIL DEMOCRACY CAN BE READILY RESTORED TO THE DOMINION.
IT IS WITH A HEAVY HEART THAT I DO THIS, BUT IT IS FOR THE GOOD OF THE COUNTRY THAT I DO THIS.

The response from the GUM was one of complete ignorance, with no Delegate even recognising the statement. The declaration will be reiterated during the national reports of the next GUM Quorum.
From the Wuertige Empire, there was nought but complete apathy. HIM Arthur I of Wuerdigeland responded with ‘Okay’. Whether that is an official or unofficial stance from the Empire is unknown. In Burnham, the only citizens who took interest were dual citizens Sar Schriber (Kasimovia/Burnham) and Kyng Second (Slin/Burnham), both of whom are foreign nationals.
It must be noted that the Civil Service Gorsedh will not be affected by the Basileus’ seizing of the reigns, although he is the service’s Supreme Judge.
HSM Justinian I will be expected to work on Burnham’s culture, while maintaining it’s political scene by using a series of Decrees and Constitutional Amendments.
